SGEA 3rd Annual Conference Focuses on Evaluation Tools
Local and state experts lead workshops on data collection, assessment and reporting

The SGEA's 3rd Annual Conference was held on March 18, 2010, at ABAC in Tifton, GA. Keynote speaker Catherine Kostilnik, MHS, MA, CHES, president of the Center for Community Studies, Inc., addressed the more than 40 participants on using surveys in evaluation practice.
The audience also benefitted from four workshops, including one delivered by Gordon Freymann, MPH, director of the Office of Health Information and Policy, Georgia Division of Public Health. Mr. Freymann described and demonstrated OASIS (Online Analytical Statistical Information System), a collection of tools used by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Divison of Public Health for health planning, assessment and evaluation. The data repository is populated with vital statistics, the state cancer registry, hospital discharge data, emergency room visits data, and other health behaviors and population data.
